Campion Bhopal Golden Jubilee Celebrations

Campion School Bhopal was established in 1965 The school began its Golden Jubilee celebrations on December 1, 2014 in the school campus under the enthusiastic leadership of school principal, Dr. Father Athnas Lakra, S.J.

The Golden Jubilee celebration commenced with a Holy Eucharistic Celebration Mass at 7.00   am in the St. Edmond Campion Church. The mass was conducted by the Arch Bishop of Bhopal diocese, Dr. Leo Cornelio, SVD. This was followed by the installation and blessings of the statues of St. Edmund Campion, S.J., patron saint of Campion School, Fr. E.F. More, S.J., founder principal of Campion, St. Ignatius of Loyola, S.J., founder of the Society of Jesus and St. Francis Xavier, S.J., co-founder of the Society of Jesus.

Dr. Leo Cornelio, SVD, graced the programme as the Chief Guest, while Rev. Father Alphonse Tirkey S.J. was the guest of honour. The Guests were escorted by the school band. The School Band of 44 students from different classes was trained by Vice-Principal Father Ajay Kerkatta, S.J. The impressive performance of the band enchanted the guests.

The Holy Mass was followed by homage to Late Fr. E.F. More, S.J., founder Principal of Campion School, Bhopal.

Highlight of the day was an impressive Torch Relay. The theme was "RUN" FOR GREATER GLORY - Staying connected and being radiant with the mission and vision of Jesuit Education. About 450 young campionites ran with the flaming torch, led by the school anthem played in an open jeep. PT instructor Mr. Johnsy Koshy trained the students for this event. The relay started from Seva Sadan and passed en-route  Durga Petrol Pump, Subhash School,  Bittan Market, Old Campion,  10 ½  Stop  Hanuman Mandir) and ended at the Campion School.

The boys in the relay had placards with the messages "Respect our Elders and Parents", "Keep Our City Clean", Proud to be a Campionite", Always Use Helmet While Driving", etc. Proper arrangements were made en-route for the safety and care of the participants.

The Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour released a documentary and the Golden Jubilee Anthem. Anthem's music was given by Mr. Gerry Gabriel, the music teacher.

Insignia for the event was unveiled. The management, staff, students and alumni jointly designed the Golden Jubilee Insignia.

Felicitations of those who have served the school in the past marked the occasion.

A Blood Donation Camp was also organised by the Jesuit Alumni Association of India to help the students to understand the benefits of blood donation and encourage them to participate in it to save life of the needy.
