Doranda Old Xaverians Inter-School Carnival 2015

The Inter-School Cultural Festival-cum-Carnival 2015 was held at St. Xavier's School, Doranda, Ranchi on 25 January 2015 under the joint aegis of the Management of SXD and the Doranda Old Xaverians (DOX Alumni Association).

1. 47 Inmates of Loyola High School, Khunti, a school of the Jesuits located in a semi-rural locale 45 kilometers from Ranchi town, were provided a Bus Transport Facility and brought to Ranchi for an EXPOSURE-CUM-EXCURSION VISIT" on the day of the Carnival 2015 (25.01.2015). They were led by Brother Fuldeo S.J., the in-charge of the School and its Hostel. Their hostellers, 90 in number, come from rural and very poor backgrounds. The visiting children had never seen a big city in their lives. (children are aged 13 years to 17 years).

Once at the Carnival, they were given coupons to play games and for having food arranged by "KAVERI", the leading caterers of Jharkhand. The event was an eye-opener for them to the larger world and mega events. They saw Horse-Riding, Bungee Jumping, Mechanized Swings, Computer-based Games, Brain-Teasers, Tattoo Making & Body Painting; and all. They interacted with the students of St. Xavier's School and its Outreach Students too.

They were transported back to their Khunti Hostel by evening; after a day of pleasure, picnic and learning / exposure.

This activity will become an annual feature of the JAAI-CZ.

2. The Signature Project of JAAI - "The Blood Donation Camp" was organized parallel to the Carnival. "Jharkhand State Aids Control Society" (J-SACS) and "Life-Savers" are the two organizations which partner with us for Blood Donation Awareness. With approximately 20,000 footfalls, we were able to generate mass awareness towards blood donation and its advantages. Simultaneously, a Blood Donation Drive for collecting Blood for the "Gandhi Nagar Hospital" (A PSU Hospital of Central Coalfields Limited) was done on-the-spot. 30 (Thirty) Units of Whole Blood was collected.
