St. Xavier's School and Sahibganj Old Xaverians Association (SOXA) Collaborate to Combat Diarrhea Outbreak in Tribal Areas

Sahibganj, 01.09.2023 – St. Xavier's School, Sahibganj, in partnership with the Sahibganj Old Xaverians Association (SOXA), launched a concerted effort to address a severe health crisis – a diarrhea outbreak in tribal areas. Under the dynamic leadership of Rev. Fr. Arul Doss SJ, this collaborative initiative has taken shape, with the crucial involvement of medical experts, Dr. Mukesh Kumar and Dr. Aman Kumar.

Tribal areas, known for their socio-economic disparities and limited access to healthcare, are particularly vulnerable during health emergencies. Recognizing this, the joint initiative spearheaded by St. Xavier's School and SOXA signifies a multifaceted approach to tackling public health crises.

This comprehensive effort harnesses the educational resources of St. Xavier's School and the medical expertise of Dr. Mukesh Kumar and Dr. Aman Kumar. The primary goal is to provide immediate relief to individuals afflicted by diarrhea. Equally significant is the commitment to educate the community about preventive measures, emphasizing awareness and hygiene practices that can help mitigate the impact of future outbreaks, ultimately improving the health and well-being of the local population.

9The impact of this collaborative effort is already evident, with approximately 75 individuals benefiting from the camp. Rev. Fr. Arul Doss SJ, Principal of St. Xavier's School, Sahibganj, and President of SOXA, expressed his gratitude, saying, "We are profoundly grateful for the unwavering support and dedication of the entire community during this crucial endeavor. Together, we have epitomized the true spirit of solidarity and compassion, which lies at the heart of our mission."

Additionally, Rev. Fr. Peri Mosses SJ played a commendable role in spreading information about the camp among tribal communities in various villages.

Dr. Mukesh Kumar, an ICSE Batch 1994 graduate, and Dr. Aman Kumar, an ICSE 2008 batch graduate, showcased their dedication and profound expertise, playing a pivotal role in the success of this endeavor.

This collaborative effort exemplifies the power of community-driven initiatives in addressing pressing health issues, particularly in marginalized regions like tribal areas. St. Xavier's School and SOXA remain committed to serving the community and enhancing the health and well-being of all residents.
