"UTSAAH" SXD-DOX Inter-School Cultural Fiesta and Carnival

Doranda Old Xaverians and St. Xavier's School, Doranda, Ranchi organized their Mega Annual Event "UTSAAH", the Two-Day Inter-School Cultural Fiesta and Carnival on 23-24 January 2016.

On 23rd, 12 Schools participated in the day-long event. 6 Stalls for Games and Food were managed and manned by students of each participating school. Each School presented two cultural stage shows, depicting Unity in Diversity. Dance forms from all over India and and other countries were presented, main ones being from Japan, Europe, Africa, Tibbet and Nepal.

The best performing teams were called-back for presenting their shows before the public-at-large on 24th January.

The formative objectives of the arrangements were : leadership development, opportunities to learn selling, marketing skills, facing rejections, objections and refusals from society, communication skills, group work etiquettes, trust and confidence, etc.

On 24th, the Carnival was open to the students of Ranchi at large, their parents and guardians, their friends and relatives, and the public at large.

100 stalls for games, food and publicity & marketing were put-up and manned by the students of Classes 3 to 12 of the School.

The famous "Madhubani Paintings" were demonstrated live at the Carnival. Rides and other means of amusement were used to the fullest.

The magnitude of the show was such, that the stage and performance area covered about 1 acre of land and the games & food court were spread over 4 acres. Each class of the school presented a stage show for the entertainment of the crowd.

The afternoon witnessed the signature show "BATTLE OF THE BANDS", in which 26 band troops of Jharkhamd participated. Three best teams were given cash and kind (best musical instruments) prizes worth Rs. 1,00,000/-.

Four Guest Bands, being the best ones of Jharkhand, entertained the mega-gathering of about 18,000 people through the evening, upto 7 pm. Local Tribal Music was also presented by the most popular "SALEM GROUP" on both days. The audience danced and head-banged to their heart's content on Rock, Pop and Tribal numbers.

A Raffle Draw for fund-raising was also done, with the Yamaha Scooty as the Bumper Prize and as many as 18 more prizes including Samsung Split Airconditioner, Samsung LED Television, Samsumg Microwave Oven, Atlas Sports Bicycles.

JAAI's Signature Project, Blood Donation Camp was also organized and 45 Units of Blood was collected for Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).
The Media Partners of the event were 92.7 Big FM Radio, who gave wide publicity to the event.

More than 100 DOX Volunteers spent tireless days and nights organizing this event, which has recurrently been organized since 2009. This event has undoubtedly given the School a unique identity and standing over the years. Masses of Ranchi wait for announcement of dates for this event.

Care for safety included traffic and law-and-order support from the District Administration, CCTV Surveillance, A First-Aid Counter, Fire Brigade Vehicle on attendance throughout the events on both days.

Excellent co-ordination between the School Staff and DOX Teams was witnessed in the process of organizing and executing this mega show, which speaks very high of the trust, understanding, synergy, like-mindedness and superb team-work of the School Management and the Alumni Body : A perfect situation indeed !

The print media and electronic media gave fantastic coverage to the event : pre and post. So much so that the leading three Hindi Newspapers have dedicated about half a page each to the coverage with abundant pictures. Clippings enclosed.
