Tree plantation programme and Free eye screening camp (SOXA)

On 31st August 2019, Soxa members, namely, Fr. Hilary D'Souza, Principal St. Xavier's School, Sahibganj,  Krishna Singh, Om Prakash, Arun Gupta, Amit Sinha,  Dr. Devesh, Dr. Amitava Biswas and few others organised a tree plantation programme at the local government aided girls' school and even our school. The tree plantation programme was a great inspiration to the school girls and the Principal of the school, whose enthusiasm was unparallel in view of global warming affecting our Mother Earth. Awareness among students about importance of trees in our lives and environment was the message conveyed at the programme.

This was followed by a free eye screening and check up camp conducted by our alumnus and eye surgeon, Dr. Amitava Biswas and his team. 198 patients, which included our Class 4 students and poor people from neighbouring villages, had their eyes examined.

Surprising success of the eye check up camp mission was detection of  a severe eye ailment of our school student, whose father/parent was away at Kolkata.  His father was contacted over phone for taking immediate remedial measures to prevent escalation of child's eye problem.

Our eye check up camp mission is identification of eye problems of our  school students and poor  people of our society at large, to prevent blindness.

The above Soxa events were high lighted  in today's newspapers vide clippings
