An ideal day for a noble cause and APX (The Association of Past Xavierites, St.Xavier's High School Loyola Hall, Ahmedabad ) organized a Blood Donation Drive on the school campus on 18th July 2015.

Over a 100 people came forward to donate and 75 units were collected (75 people could donate). Many APX members are scheduled to go the Blood Bank on Monday and donate, as they could not do so today.

This is a noble cause organized by APX and the blood bank is Red Cross.

This is an annual event hosted by the APX, which is under the JAAG ( Jesuit Alumni Associations of Gujarat ) umbrella, and is a JAAI initiative.

The “Faces in Our Midst” – Fr. Dr. Gerard Van Walleghem SJ

A young man who was only 24 when he first came to India, has now spent 63 years in India, most of it in Darjeeling. He left a luxurious life in Canada behind, and choose to come and serve people in India, his fate and our good fortune crossed path, rest as they say is history. This is a simple story of an extraordinary individual – our beloved Fr. Van whose love for Darjeeling and its people is unmatched.

EARLY CALLING
Almost everyone who lives in Darjeeling knows about or has heard of or seen Fr. Van. Not many know that he has lived in India for the past 63 years, almost all of which – other than a few years of training for his priesthood and early postings – he has spent in Darjeeling.

DORANDA OLD XAVERIANS (DOX), in collaboration with SPIC-MACAY (The Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music, Art and Culture Amongst Youth) organized a One-Hour Show Titled "DRUMS OF MANIPUR", followed by the informal "Convergence and Synergy Meet".

This event showcased the vigorous-yet-classical Manipuri Dance Form, led by the Ustad Bismillah Khan National Classical Cultural Awardee "SINAM BASU SINGH" and his troupe of eight performers.

DOX Members and their families hosted the Youth Exchange Team members and their Mentor Teachers at their homes while at Ranchi, during their two-week trip to India. Dr. Devendra Singh hosted two teachers Mr. Xavier and Mr. Laurens; while Gaurav Maheshwari, Mr. Panjwani and Mr. Jasmeet Kalsi, Mr. Modi and Mr. Chaudhury hosted two students each. Likewise three more Doranda Old Xaverians hosted another six Belgian guests.

A night with the DOX Families (10.04.2015) gave the visiting Belgian friends an insight on the Indian Culture, Lifestyle and Societal Value Systems. They also studied the various religious belief systems of India while with us. All families shared mementos and pleasantries with the guests.

The Alumni of St Xavier's School Doranda (DOX) organized a Blood Donation Camp at the School Premises in collaboration with the Blood Bank of Guru Nanak Hospital & Research Centre and Anurag Singh Charitable Trust on Sunday, 15th March 2015.

As many as 80 donors enrolled for donating Blood, but owing to paucity of the storage capacity with the Blood Bank, collection was stopped after obtaining 39 Units.

An amazing commitment was shown by Rev. Fr. Ajit Kumar Xess SJ, Principal, St. Xavier's School, Doranda, the Vice Principal Rev. Fr. Sanjay Kerketta SJ, Sister Jyoti, Mrs. Anita Singh, the management of Anurag Singh Charitable Trust , Sisters and Students of Nirmala College and the very own DOX Members and their friends.

JAAI-CZ President Er. Shivendra Mohan Sharma, JAAI-CZ Secretary Vishal Jain and JAAI Vice President Dr. Devendra Singh were also present throughout the half-day program.

VOBA, VINCA and the PTA of St.Vincent's jointly conducted a very successful Blood Donation drive with the support of the KEM Hospital Blood Bank. We had 102 donors who donated blood. Around 10 donors could not donate blood as they were ineligible as per the medical parameters.

Special thanks to the PTA and VINCA for their whole hearted support and participation.

VOBA committee members also deserve thanks for helping in organizing the even and for being present at the venue to assist and coordinate the drive.

A big thank you to Afaque Sheikh, Murtuza Poonawalla and Mushtak Dhariwala for shouldering the responsibility of the entire event.

The Association of Past Xavierites ( APX ), the alumni/ae association of the St.Xavier's High School, played a cricket match versus the alumni/ae association of a leading college in Ahmedabad, on 26th January, after the Flag Hoisting, on the St.Xavier's High School grounds. This is an annual event organized jointly by the 2 associations, one year the match is played on the St.Xavier's grounds, and the following year on the other Institute's grounds. Members of both the associations along with the students, staff and management participate in the Flag Hoisting, followed by the match. Breakfast and lunch are also served before and after the match and it is an ideal occasion and set up to celebrate the Republic Day. For the statistics, the scoreline reads 4-4 after 8 matches played on 26th January for the past 8 years. Besides the patriotic fervor, bonding and networking are also part of this event, along with the sports conscious alumni/ae members

The Inter-School Cultural Festival-cum-Carnival 2015 was held at St. Xavier's School, Doranda, Ranchi on 25 January 2015 under the joint aegis of the Management of SXD and the Doranda Old Xaverians (DOX Alumni Association).  

1. 47 Inmates of Loyola High School, Khunti, a school of the Jesuits located in a semi-rural locale 45 kilometers from Ranchi town, were provided a Bus Transport Facility and brought to Ranchi for an EXPOSURE-CUM-EXCURSION VISIT" on the day of the Carnival 2015 (25.01.2015). They were led by Brother Fuldeo S.J., the in-charge of the School and its Hostel. Their hostellers, 90 in number, come from rural and very poor backgrounds. The visiting children had never seen a big city in their lives. (children are aged 13 years to 17 years).

The 8th annual Britto's O.B.A Xmas Dance at ALVA MAR, Parra, with FOREFRONT led by Seby Pinto and VENTURES led by Malcolm Sequeira was a grand success. Everyone enjoyed themselves and even the Deputy Chief Minister, Adv. Francisco C.J.A. de Pinto e Souza agreed to shake a leg after a brief felicitation function by the Founder President Fr. Apollo Cardoz SJ in the presence of the current President BOB Cesar Cabral ...who also led the Managing Committee in organizing, presenting, Monitoring and accounting for the dance. Less than 24 hours later, most of the accounts are settled. The Treasurer, BOB Max Cordeiro [seen giving away a prize at the dance in the last photo] has done an excellent job of accounting and getting the accounts audited. BOB Elvidio D'Souza has been our Conscience Keeper and organized the gate-keeping for a nominal cost, while BOB Jude Fernandes has managed the hamper very transparently. A record 124 members attended the Dance along with their families and friends.

Campion School Bhopal was established in 1965 The school began its Golden Jubilee celebrations on December 1, 2014 in the school campus under the enthusiastic leadership of school principal, Dr. Father Athnas Lakra, S.J.

The Golden Jubilee celebration commenced with a Holy Eucharistic Celebration Mass at 7.00   am in the St. Edmond Campion Church. The mass was conducted by the Arch Bishop of Bhopal diocese, Dr. Leo Cornelio, SVD. This was followed by the installation and blessings of the statues of St. Edmund Campion, S.J., patron saint of Campion School, Fr. E.F. More, S.J., founder principal of Campion, St. Ignatius of Loyola, S.J., founder of the Society of Jesus and St. Francis Xavier, S.J., co-founder of the Society of Jesus.
